South Korea ranked second after the States on NetflixŌĆÖs Top 100 rankings by country.┬Ā According to Maeil Business NewspaperŌĆÖs data analysis by FlixPatrol on the 15th, a total of 16 Korean dramas were ranked among NetflixŌĆÖs Top 100 rankings. This is the second most, following the States that put 48 shows in total. Considering that 10 K-dramas including Squid Game (1st) and Vincenzo (15th) were ranked on the same chart last year, this is a significant quantitative improvement.┬Ā The universalization of K-content is also revealed in the watchlist of subscribers. According to NetflixŌĆÖs statistics, itŌĆÖs been confirmed that more than 60% of the 233 million members worldwide (as of the third quarter of this year) watched K-content. And 80% of the members from Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore, have watched K-content.┬Ā The highest ranking among the K-dramas was All of Us Are Dead (8th) and Extraordinary Attorney Woo (10th). In particular, All of Us Are Dead accumulated 560 million cumulative viewing hours in the first four weeks, making it the 4th highest non-English series on Netflix of all time. Extraordinary Attorney Woo received much love, staying on the global top 10 of non-English TV shows for 20 weeks. This is the same record as Squid Game, NetflixŌĆÖs most-watched series. Besides these two, the ranking also included Business Proposal, Alchemy of Souls, Young Lady and Gentleman, Twenty-Five Twenty-One, and Little Women. Though it didnŌĆÖt make it to the top 100 list, Thirty-Nine, Juvenile Justice, My Liberation Notes, and The Sound of Magic also got high scores. FlixPatrol also provides rankings of 122 TV shows worldwide thatŌĆÖve scored more than 3,000 points as of December, of which 21 (17%) are K-dramas. Now, the attention focuses on whether K-variety shows will also show their power in the global market. This year, Netflix original show SingleŌĆÖs Inferno was the only Korean show to enter the chart. An official from Netflix said, ŌĆ£The diversification of materials and viewing countries is an inevitable result of the environment where individual consumers can select the content they want through OTT platforms. Rather than a unified formula for popularity, the attempts of going beyond genres and formats will continue.ŌĆØ 8. All of Us Are Dead 10. Extraordinary Attorney Woo 14. Business Proposal 28.
