According to DongA News, Imitation will premiere in May as a follow-up of KBSŌĆÖs Friday drama Dear. M. Based on the webtoon of the same name, Imitation will be a tribute to Korean idols. Since the first episode released in 2014, the webtoon received explosive popularity with more than 4.5 billion views and more than 600,000 cumulative comments on Kakao Page. This projectŌĆÖs worldview revolves around four artists/groups: ŌĆ£top starŌĆØ Larima, ŌĆ£perfect idolsŌĆØ SHAX, ŌĆ£growing idolsŌĆØ Tea Party, and ŌĆ£passionate idolsŌĆØ Sparkling. The realistic yet exciting portrayal of the idol industry and fandoms will arouse curiosity among the viewers, who may not be a fan of K-pop. In October last year, KBS has confirmed the cast lineup that includes Parasite actress Jung Ji So; ATEEZŌĆÖs Yunho, Seonghwa, Jongho, and San; SF9ŌĆÖs Chani and Hwiyoung; U-KISSŌĆÖs Jun; T-araŌĆÖs Jiyeon; former I.O.I and PRISTIN member Lim Nayoung; Yuri; Ahn Jung Hoon; Minseo; BoysŌĆÖ RepublicŌĆÖs Suwoong; g.o.dŌĆÖs Danny Ahn; and Shim Eun Jin.
