In Under the QueenŌĆÖs Umbrella, which marked a fabulous start with viewership that almost reached up to 10% in the first week, Kim Hye Soo plays Queen Im Hwaryeong with stern yet cheerful charms. With her elegant and dignified appearance, she convincingly portrays Hwaryeong, the busiest person in the entire palace whoŌĆÖll go to all lengths to protect her sons. In every episode, the actress impresses the viewers by showing the characterŌĆÖs various charms with her well-balanced performance. In episode 4, Hwaryeong is seen going all out to save the crown prince (Bae In Hyuk) whoŌĆÖs now at deathŌĆÖs door, all the while digging into the mystery behind Prince TaeinŌĆÖs death. Moreover, her tense conflict with Queen Dowager (Kim Hye Sook) doubled the tension. The sight of Hwaryeong touching the crown princeŌĆÖs face after he vomited blood brought the viewers to tears. Her conversation with Prince Sungnam maximized the sadness with her restrained feeling of remorse.
