Koko Sooni (literal title), set to be released on August 25th, is the new reportage movie that reveals the hidden truth and distorted records about the group of women forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army written in the report of interrogation of 20 Korean prisoners of war found in Myanmar. Lee Hyori will add strength to this movie with the song ŌĆ£DonŌĆÖt Forget MeŌĆØ that she wrote and composed. Through lyrics such as ŌĆ£Sky, wind, and stars/In the arms of my mother I missŌĆØ and ŌĆ£Will I get to see home again?ŌĆØ the singer reveals the feelings of many Koko Soonis who had to leave their family and hometown. Here, voice actress Park Ji Yoon, best known for playing Anna in Frozen and emotion cell in YumiŌĆÖs Cells, delivers a heavy message in a calm voice.
The Koko Sooni crew personally excavated materials related to Korean sex slave victims from all over the world, including Hamyang, Jeju Island, Myanmar, Pakistan, the States, and Australia, following in Koko SooniŌĆÖs footsteps. The movie doubles the realism by checking the scene of a Korean concentration camp in Myitkyina, which existed only on records. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the United States House of Representatives House Resolution 121, which asks that the Japanese government apologize to female victims and include a curriculum about them in Japanese schools, making the release of this movie all the more meaningful. It is estimated that there are about 200,000 women forcibly taken to Japan, but only 240 of them are registered with the government. And now, there are currently only 11 survivors in Korea now.
